Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. Casey County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact submission may be kept long enough to review it and respond. It remains within the site team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the website's systems may automatically receive routine technical and usage details, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show how visitors move through the website, such as which Casey County resource pages receive traffic and where a visit ends. Analytics providers may combine that activity into summary measurements. A browser can be set to reject cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
Collected technical and submitted information is used only for the operational purposes listed here.
- Routing a search request to the appropriate outside provider
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Operating the website and improving page speed
- Assessing which pages are useful and which need revision
- Displaying advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Casey County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies official channels such as the Casey County courts, the sheriff, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not compiled into a consumer report or a file about another person, and the website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Casey County courts, Kentucky agencies, legal resources, law-enforcement pages, or an outside search service. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's own privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may use their systems to recognize activity across websites and select targeted ads. Casey County Criminal History does not control that external tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Advertising networks that serve ads
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards help protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so the website cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be sent through the contact channel.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with a visitor's location and the law that applies. In Kentucky, the Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870-.884, governs access to public records held by covered agencies; it does not turn this privately run website into a government records custodian. KRS 17.150 separately limits public inspection of centralized criminal-history information. For data maintained by this website, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of personal data, when applicable
- Ask what personal information is held
- Object to certain processing, where the law provides that choice
- Request correction of inaccurate information
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
Effective date: July 26, 2026
